salam everyone,

i'm going to be in paris during the month of july with a group from my university to take a french class at the sorbonne and to do a bit of tourism. i'm really excited, seeing as this is my first time in paris.

i've already started planning what to do and see, making daily agendas, etc., but a month is truly a long time and i need more ideas. so, for those of you who have lived or are currently living in paris, or who know the city well, what do you suggest that i see or do? (besides the typical stuff found in tourist books please)

as for cafes or restaurants, is it hard to find inexpensive meals? what are some of your favorite restaurants?

what about neighborhoods for walking and shopping? i don't like the "grands magasins" -- i prefer smaller and more charming boutiques that sell unique items..

anyway, please tell me your favorite places in paris. if you have any suggestions, let me know. again, i could very well look in one of my books about paris to find all the touristy places to go, but i'm not really a fan of that. i'd like to hear insiders' opinions.

Iam parisian living in UK, Parius IS NOT expensive at all when you avoid tourist place ..........

I haven't got time to explain but don't worry and leave the tourist place for dum people

i love sacrée coeur it is a pretty place....really.....but very long stairs to visit it....and some nights there are theatre and people who paint your face on a picture so itis a beautifull place

hi, thanks for the interest.
i'm from california and this will be my first time in paris. i would be grateful if you gave me some recommendations for paris, either here or in an MP.

as for your question, i can't really help you. i myself am a born muslim but i know plenty of american converts. unfortunately i don't think that will work since you said you needed people from berlin and london. good luck though, and please let me know about paris sights.

What a pity you come from America. Because you know reverts. It's very difficult to find people who come from London ! In Paris, i found a lot of people and in Berlin, i met an imam, he will help me to find personns.

For Paris, you can go to Sacré coeur, Montmartre à la station de métro "abesses" line 12 or "anvers" line 2 , St Michel Notre Dame station "st michel" line 4, "St Germain des prés" line 4, la place du Luxembourg (rer B), "Cour St Emilion" line 14, Eiffel Tower to the station " Bir Hakeim" line 6, Champs Elysées to the station "Champs elysées" line 6, l'île St Louis, "St Paul" line 1 ... You have la mosquée de Paris à la station "Place Monge" and l'Institut du monde arabe à la station "Jussieu". There is a lot of places. You have to take metro. It's really easy !
