hello

you can go to SOUTHALL (west London), you'll find a big Indian and Pakistani community there. You need to take the pink line to the PADDINGTON station and then take a connection train going to SouthHall. When you go out of the train station, take the right side and then you'll reach the main street full of shops

You have another area called "little India" in the east of London but i don't know what is the closest train station.

I don't know Edgware RD (i'm not from London but i know South Hall ). You will find many stores there and a lot of fabrics (i've seen a lot) or dresses (salwar kameez, sarees, ghagara choli etc...)

Southall in west London, also know as "mini Punjab Southall"
The place is about five miles from Heathrow airport and like a pilgrimage that nearly every Indian visiting London makes. The place is full of Indian shops and restaurants. One can get the latest fashions in sarees or salwar kameez. There are general stores also offering all the dals, pickles, rice, atta, and fresh vegetables. Music stores blaze the latest Indian songs. Lahori restaurant is one of the best in Southall. Here the food is cooked in front of you as you wait. Glassy Junction pub,a typical Punjabi pub where one can even make the payment in Indian rupees

You've got Southall aka "Little India" in West London ( http://travel.nytimes.com/2006/01/29.../29dayout.html) and Brick Lane in East London (http://www.click4bricklane.co.uk/) - google them both and you'll find more information.

These are the 2 main Asian areas in London however you should be able to find Indian/Pakistani shops pretty much anywhere, mainly in the suburbs.
Then again it depends on what you're after ...

Edgware Road is predominantly Arabic/Middle Eastern - you should be able to find some fabrics there but the Asian neighbourhoods are much better.

There's hardly anything interesting in Shepherd's Bush as far as fabrics are concerned ... I wouldn't recommend it at all.
