Job opportunity in London : How much should I ask ?

Salam Alaikoum,

I have an interesting job opportunity (in IT) based in London, my family (my wife, my two children and me) will have to relocate from Paris to London.

Everybody say to me that London is very expensive : the rent's flat is very expensive, the school for children is very expensive, the doctor is very expensive, ...nevertheless I really want to do it and seize the opportunity

My question is about the salary to ask : what is the minimum budget required to live normally in London for a familly composed of 4 people ? 40000 Pounds/year ? 50000 Pound ?

i think if u want to live the same way as you are doing in france, i mean have a nice car, a big 3 bedroom flat in a good location, be able to afford a good school for your children, 50 K is not a great salary, especialy if you want to live in central london,
I think if you can get a 70K package per year, you r gonna be fine.
London is a very nice city, you and your family will really enjoy your life, but it's b..... expensive as well.

50K is a very good salary, do not listen to people who tells you it's not enough, how many people earn that?
Schools are free unless you choose a private school, here we have the NHS so doctors and hospitals are free of charge.
You could choose to live in a lesser expensive area to start with. Trust me I have been here 20 years and i do not earn 50K, I only earn half that and i do manage.
