Immigrant worker freezes to death outside staff party in Red Deer

RED DEER, Alta. — An immigrant worker who apparently became disoriented after leaving a staff party in Red Deer, Alta., has been found frozen to death in the frigid cold snap that is gripping the prairies.

Police say 27-year-old Tarik Abdenebaoui, a Moroccan citizen who was working in Canada as a cook, was wearing only a light winter jacket, blue jeans and street shoes when his body was found Friday, five days after he was last seen.

Investigators say he was found face down in a snowy area near one of the many buildings on the Westerner Exhibition grounds where the staff party had been held.

Snow-covered tracks throughout the area indicated to police that Mr. Abdenebaoui had become disoriented in the darkness and that exposure to the extreme cold that night may have contributed to his death.

RCMP say they do not suspect foul play.

An autopsy will be performed by the medical examiner early next week.

Pour les gens qui n'ont pas essaye le froid extreme avant, ca ne prend que quelque mn pour commencer a se sentire tres mal a l'aise quand il fait -20 ou moins.
Mais en meme temps c'est tres rare d'entendre que ca arrive a des gens ici au canada de mourir du froid.

moi je pense aux siens restés au maroc qui vont recevoir un cercueil ..ça fait de la peine serieux pour l'avoir deja vecu..

Ca arrive plus que tu ne penses a ceux qui se perdent dans le bois en moto neige, des petits vieux alzheimer au coin de la rue.
