why a muslim is allowed to marry more than one wife ?
hi evrybody
in fact, my topic is too long but i tried to sump up it as possible as i can . because readers sometimes feel bored when they read a long subject.my topic is as follow: This issue perplexes all non-muslims from all over the world.Regarding marriage in islam, a lot of people particularly, in the western world , think that a muslim is a man who is possessed by his physical passions an dis himself in possession of a number of wives and concubines , whether limited or unlimited just to satisfy his lust without caring for the woman 's rights. But, that is not true regarding the true concept of polygamy in islam although a few muslims may do so and misuse this permission. Islam allows the muslim to have four wives at the same time with certain restrictions. Firstly, if the man wants to have more offspring, as some men do like to have many sons and daughters , so polygamy in this case can satisfy the desire of such men . Secondly, if a man has a sterile or sick wife , he has got the permission to take another wife without being forced to divorce the first one . Thirdly, if the man is sexually over-active or hyperactive and can not wait during his wife's menses , he may marry another wife to avoid commiting adultery or indulging in a sinful behaviour. And i believe that one of the most important reasons of marring another woman is for compassioante reasons which means a marriage with the intention of looking after a woman who might be an orphan or a widow with children , having no one to support them.in this case , the generous person can marry this poor woman and give her all that she needs of financial and moral support without bieng suspected by other people. This kind of marriage was contracted by the prophet muhammmad peace be upon him .C oncluding this topic,i must point out that allah the almighty and his messenger, peace be upon him , legitimized polygamy but never persuaded muslims to opt it without genine reasons. Allah said in the holy qur'an :if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, marry women of your choice , two or three or four; but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with them, then only one .
