To: The authorities of Morocco
We, the undersigned, call on the Moroccan authorities to support the principle of press freedom by ending their current effort to silence the publications of Ali Lmrabet including dropping the charges they have filed against him.

Ali Lmrabet is a Moroccan-based journalist who runs two weekly publications (‘Demain Magazine’ and ‘Doumane’) and is Morocco’s Reporters Without Borders representative. He is currently defending himself against three of the most severe charges a journalist can face in his country: offending the King, offending the monarchy and attacking the country’s "territorial integrity". If found guilty he could be sentenced to 3-5 years in prison or fined between 1000-10,000 euros. The charges stem from Mr Lmrabet’s publication of an article concerning the Moroccan monarchy’s budgetary spending, cartoons about Morocco’s history of slavery, and an interview with a Moroccan republican politician, reprinted from the Spanish daily newspaper ‘Avui’. The company that usually prints Mr Lmrabet’s work now refuses to do so citing government complaints made in court concerning its association with Mr Lmrabet. In protest against these attacks on liberty of expression Mr Lmrabet began a hunger strike on the 6th of May and will continue this action indefinitely.

As individuals from different countries we share a common concern regarding these serious breaches of press freedom and we call on the Moroccan authorities to uphold Ali Lmrabet’s right to continue his publications without hindrance, persecution, or threat.

Franchelment si je dois signé cela sera plus pour la peine de prison que je trouve abusé..
une amende ou interpellation avec sursis aurait suffit..en l occurence je n aime pas ses ecrits.
