European Voluntary Service programme : Call for application
FEMYSO (Forum of European Muslim Youth and Student Organisations) is part and parcel of a desire for promoting the Youth Programme of the European Commission, especially, Action 2, the European Voluntary Service (EVS) which encourages the mobility of young people through international activities and permits to play an active role in society. Originally as a pilot action, EVS was created in 1996. The European Voluntary Service has now 10 years. From 2007, a new “Youth in Action” Programme (2007-2013) will come.

During several months, the volunteer, aged between 18 and 30, will participate in the FEMYSO work and will have the unique opportunity to get involved in an important, active and intercultural European non-profit organization. The objectives of such a project are to give the opportunity to young people to become more sensitive to the problems encountered by young Muslims in Europe, to get deeply involved in the International Youth Work, to promote the active role of Muslim youth in Europe and the political involvement of young people in the society, to combat racism and xenophobia, and to strengthen the FEMYSO team with important internal projects.

FEMYSO offers:
o a fascinating experience and a work made of multiple challenges;
o the opportunity to meet and to get to know young people from all over Europe ;
o an implication in the heart of the international youth work; • an extraordinary opportunity to live for several months in Brussels , the heart of the European Institutions;
o a unique chance to discover a country of rich historical and cultural heritage well-known for its mixing of populations, cultures and religions;
o the possibility to acquire more experience and thus to enhance the chances to find a future job; and
o the possibility to attend language courses if needed.

FEMYSO (Forum of European Muslim Youth and Student Organisations), which was established in 1996, is the only Muslim youth organisation in Europe. It has developed into a wide network of 39 member organisations from 23 European countries.
