Who’s responsible for the exodus of the Moroccan brains ? Developing the Moroccan person is a tremendous task, ridding him of poverty; illiteracy and pushing him to better himself while progressing in a democratic and fair society is a big project. We needed this courageous step to be prosperous and modern, we can not uplift the country to international standards without the average Moroccan, and we can not forget the poor and the unprivileged and take off without him. As it is the case in countries that experienced a jump in their GDP due their well thought and well executed human development process, India for example always suffered from the same problems Morocco is suffering from now, an elite educated which had access to education, wealth and good schools and they ruled the economy and the vital sectors of that country but with 1 billion citizens, India had to re-build its human infrastructure before its roads and airports because when Intel decided to open a plant in India it considered the human potentials before any facilities that India may offer for such investor. Morocco must and is on its way to re-invest in its citizens in order to become effective, competitive and attractive to high-end investors, there ought to be a policy in keeping the educated and to add more each year to show case that talent to Intel, Microsoft, Cisco, IBM and other companies that look for countries with intelligent population and of course the rest of the qualifying formulas such as low taxes, close to the west, good infrastructure and political stability. Let's take examples of countries that invested in their citizens and succeeded and others that did not and failed. Vietnam is a country with an economy that grows by 9 % per year! Vietnam was one of the most closed up countries on the plane and just five years ago no one would have predicted that Vietnam would be a player in the world economy, but because the communist regime, although it was brutal and undemocratic, invested in educating the average Vietnamese person and the result is as soon as the country opened its doors to foreign investors the multinational companies flocked to it, so with little democracy Vietnam will be better off than many countries that struggled for decades to achieve these results but with poor civil planning. For example countries in Africa with mineral resources and a sizable population plus a genuine desire to attract investors did not achieve more than 2 % growth, why? Again poor citizen’s contribution due to poor human resources planning from their governments. I am a believer in developing the citizen first before we build highways and first class apartments, this is a winning bet for any country to advance, we see in Morocco a mass exodus of the educated young population, mainly to Canada and we need these people to run things in Morocco because the country spends big amounts of money to educate them to turn around and send them to Canada, this is the best gift a country could offer to another one, its brains. I understand that there is a real desire to develop the Moroccan person with the NDH, I applaud this initiative and I hope that it will bring us the results that so desperately need. I am fed up with the rich sending their children to better schools, all Moroccan schools should be better schools, no difference between who you are and what you have when it comes to human capacities, a poor person who is giving a chance could be the next Moroccan Einstein, or Edison or any one with an idea that will work for morocco. If you are rich and you go to "better schools" to be hired by your uncle's friend, to me you are not any better than the unemployed graduate. Morocco needs qualifications not connections. I am blunt in this article because I feel that many of us left morocco because we were not given the chance to be productive and to help, many Moroccans can help if the human resources are looked at in morocco as a solution not a problem. if morocco experience a growth of 5% the country could hire 1/4 million citizens per year, this number is above what is needed to offset the unemployment problem, so the availability of workers in morocco should not be seen as a problem that every government has to address and tackle as a national problem it is a national asset, look at Europe, it is enlarging itself to just solve its decline in population and still not enough; so they look at us for more people, Europe needs another 6 million workers from our region to pay for the retirement of their aging population, it will be sad if they feel that they can have them any time they want, we too should have enough projects, investments to say: no, we need these hands. |

Europe can barely (if at all) prevent brain drain, so what do you think Morocco's chances are? A snowball in hell has better chances to survive. Oh, and it's nobody's fault; that's a global phenomenon that existed long before globalization. |

Another excellent article by mister2002. Looks like you're a real patriot and the way you speak shows that you're a highly-educated person with a an interesting view of our ptoblems. I hope that you and me and every person full of goodwill will have someday the opportunity to develop our country. Let's all remeber!

nice...nice...but what do you offer to all these brains ?? you're talking about economy like if it was a religion . How about changing the culture, our stupid backward mentality ... I went to Morocco last december , it was the cheap thing (la fete du mouton) in the same time with the 31 december...guess what ?? no bar was open or anywhere where to dance ! When the 6 days of I don't know how to call it finished , I went to a bar where it is supposed to dance salsa ! The guy didn't let us to enter !! haha amazing !!! In north america , I've never been refused even in the most jet set places! well...how you talk about economy which means spending money, liberal things and bars and places where to have fun doen't exist !!! so why having a career !!!!???? I wanna have a career , but where to spend money ???? in the best car ? I don't want that !!! in the most beautifull house ??? I don't care !!!!! You can't ask someone who want a career just to have a career and stop ! you have to give him the environment where to live. Don't say I'm superficial ...where are libraries? do we have libraries in Morocco where you can find the latest novel or essay ??? And sport? and culture? these things are open just to the elites ? sometimes it's not even enough you have the money ....you need to have connections , friends or you must be someone from the lords !!! come on ... |

the main reason ofthe exodus of moroccan brains is Money! there are qualified persons and their salary is very low, so they quit their country to have better social, financial situation...In Morocco, there's an other reason, the governement doesn't support researches especially in medicine and technology, so obviously, our moroccan brains( and there are thousands) cannot bear this situation when there's a helpless governement, corruption.... Religion is not a reason at all, we are talking about moroccan brains not moroccans who lose their identity and quit their country because of the bars and dancingclubs( very strange...) WE CANNOT CHANGE THE SITUATION IN OUR HOME LAND, because there's no help, no money, no industries, no laboratories, no scientists researches, nothing... the other countries, north countries, have centuries of progress and civilzation and respect not for their brains but for all even idiots. When you see our moroccan billionaires with their 'modest' car, and the poorest who try to overcome issuesand try to eat, Then you should understand why persons want to live their country...yeah, there's Injustice, corruption, disrespect....Our country has to change from its core and perhaps, nobody will leave his country,,,everybody love his country, but reality is somteimes stronger than roots's love... |
