I share your view. The oral aspect of a language is important (I've noticed that it is more and more neglicted).
When I give classes, the first weeks are totally dedicated to oral lessons and phonetics. As far as I'm concerned it's important to know how a sound is pronounced.

It is important but I also found damagable that we are unable to recognize A native english speaker from A non native English speaker

When I spoke about the beautifulness fo the accent I was speaking about the non native accent

At least you admit it ;)

For my part, I don't know what kind of accent i have, but I think that my pronounciation is ok anyways ...

I suppose that my accent sounds more like the American one, 'cause it's the one i'm the most exposed to (Movies, Tv Series, Music ...)

What sort of studies have you done?
I wasn't aware of my own accent until the day I study languages.

your teachers didn't told you about your accent?

A friend of mine is from South Africa and I had difficulties to understand what he was saying.

Well, they used to tell me that I have a good pronounciation, but they didn't tell me exactly what accent I have.

But i've been in the US last year, and most of the people i've been talking to didn't notice that I was French :D

    It Felt SO COOL lol

I understand how difficult is to understand this kind of accent but the time is a magnificant teacher to help you to understand him or her

    Absolutely agree with you!
But unfortunately, we haven't the opportunity to hear our beautiful accents here :)
